Good bye Julius

It was with great sadness that cadwork learned of the death of Professor Julius Natterer.

A convinced environmentalist long before his time, it was his visionary commitment in the 1980s that enabled the Confederation to obtain funds to support the project to adapt a CAD system to timber construction, which led to the emergence of cadwork software as we know it today.

Considered as a “spiritual father” by the developers of cadwork software, he has left his mark on a whole generation, being a real driving force in the field of ecology and militating for the use of high technology in the field of wood.

He leaves behind him not only the memory of a visionary and passionate personality in the field of wood construction, but also, we are convinced, a multitude of small seeds that he spread throughout his life and that will continue to germinate in people’s minds.

There is no doubt that his ideas, his passion and his knowledge will continue to enlighten timber construction for future generations.

We share the sadness of his passing today and our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.
